ChatGPT halts 'Scarlett Johansson-sounding' AI voice: Tech & Science Daily podcast

Scarlett Johansson told of her “shock” at how “eerily similar” one of the artificial intelligence voices created for ChatGPT sounded to her own.

OpenAI announced a “pause” in using one of its vocal avatars after it drew comparisons with the Hollywood actress’s speaking style - and she brought lawyers in.

In a statement, Johansson said she was “angered” the AI voice apparently sounded much like hers, which she claimed came after turning down an approach from the company for vocal work.

However, OpenAI said the avatar’s voice is “not an imitation” of Johansson, and was in fact another actress using her own natural speaking voice.
