Chaser Jenny Ryan spills on backstage rivalry between quizzers on ITV show

Jenny Ryan has addressed the dynamic between the professional quizzers on The Chase, saying that although there is "a little bit of rivalry", there is "no animosity".

Jenny, 40 – who's also known as the Vixen – has been on the ITV quiz show since 2015, alongside Mark Labbett, 57, Shaun Wallace, 62, Anne Hegerty, 64, and Paul Sinha, 52.

The group – which has more recently included the addition of Darragh Ennis, 42 – appear together on the spin-off Beat the Chasers, which was launched back in 2020.

Discussing her co-stars and fellow quizzers recently, Jenny said that some viewers wrongly suspect there is "bad blood" between them – though she said this isn't the case.

She told the Daily Star : "I think people watching at home, especially Beat The Chasers, are thinking we all wind each other up and there's a little bit of bad blood.

"But there's honestly absolutely none. We've all had lunch beforehand whilst firing questions at each other to warm up, and if one of us makes a mistake it's very fleeting."

Jenny added that "there is no animosity afterward," though teased that there is "a little bit of rivalry" – citing that there are a lot of different statistics about their performances.

She said they are able to find out who is the fastest or the most accurate, though she further commented that the Chasers are "all at least top of one of the stats".

Jenny – who had previously appeared on other quiz shows such as Mastermind, Weakest Link and Only Connect – added there's even a group chat between the Chasers.

Jenny and some of her co-stars attended the National Television Awards earlier this month (PA)

Whilst discussing the Chase at the National Television Awards earlier this month, Jenny said that the popular ITV show has "the best fans" before discussing fans' reactions.

She commented: "Everyone is so happy to see us. We aren't a guilty pleasure anymore. We are a genuine pleasure for so many people and they are happy to see us I think."
