Chase Young, Terry McLaurin both hope to play in Week 1

It’s officially Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season for the Washington Commanders. The team released its first injury report of the 2023 season on Wednesday, and a pair of notable stars were listed as limited.

Wide receiver Terry McLaurin [toe] and defensive end Chase Young [neck] were on the practice field and afterward, both sounded positive of their chances to play in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals.

“I’m ready to go,” Young said. “Straight up. I feel fine, I’m ready to go.”

Head coach Ron Rivera said Young’s status is completely in the hands of the doctors.

“He’s doing everything he can to get himself ready to play,” Rivera said. “It’s going to all be up to what happens with the doctor’s visit that he has coming up soon……….But the young man is chomping at the bit; he’s done everything that he possibly can to get himself ready to play.”

As for McLaurin. He certainly looked ready to go.

After practice, McLaurin told reporters he wouldn’t be practicing if he wasn’t confident in his toe.

“I’m not feeling any limitations,” McLaurin said, per John Keim of ESPN.

With two more days of practice, things are looking up for both players. However, it appears, as of now, McLaurin is closer because no one is certain what the doctors will say about Young’s status. If it were up to Young, he’d be playing as he’s excited for the sellout crowd.
