Chase Edmonds shares why he’s interested in playing with Tua Tagovailoa

This offseason, the Miami Dolphins have made it a point to upgrade their running attack, adding fullback Alec Ingold as well as running backs Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert.

Edmonds, 26, was their first signing, as he agreed to a two-year, $12.1 million contract in the first hour of the NFL’s legal tampering period. Since then, the deal has become official, and the former Arizona Cardinal has gotten the opportunity to tour the facilities and speak with some members of the organization.

On Friday, Edmonds joined Travis Wingfield, host of the team-produced series “Drive Time,” to talk about his time in the league and at Fordham. Edmonds also shared what he likes about his new quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, and why he’s interested in playing with him.

“Well, I think the first thing I like about Tua is that he’s very accurate,” Edmonds said. You can tell that he’s intelligent. He knows how to get on his reads, get off his reads. I feel like, with me, that’s something that I need just on the checkdown purpose. If the balls getting out quick, especially in our scheme that we’re gonna be doing, it tailors to my skill set of really catching the ball out the backfield, figuring out what I can do, then help move the chains.”

Edmonds could be a real weapon in this offense because, as he explained, his skill set fits well with the things they want to do. If he gets the opportunities and stays on the field, he could really help Tagovailoa and the rest of the unit elevate their game.
