The charred aftermath of the wildfire that engulfed Killiney Hill has been revealed this morning as Dublin Fire Brigade crews remain at the scene.
Firefighters were alerted to a huge wildfire in Killiney on Monday evening and crews battled the blaze overnight. Two firefighters were transported to hospital and treated for minor injuries, and residents were urged to close their windows and doors as thick clouds of smoke covered the area.
A "large logistical operation" including road closures was put in place as crew members battled the blaze. The emergency service successfully worked to protect the houses on Glenaula Road and Ballinclea Heights.
The Irish Air Corps also assisted the operation by providing a helicopter and firefighting bambi bucket. At noon, Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed that the fire was out but two crews were remaining at the scene in Killiney to "hit hotspots and flare ups".
