Charlton Athletic exits, striker in demand, Peterborough United star sold – League One transfers

The final day of the January transfer window is almost upon us and Bristol Rovers and their League One rivals are working around the clock to get deals done before the deadline arrives at 11pm on Tuesday.

Joey Barton is eager to make several additions to his squad before the window slams shut, with Saturday's heavy defeat at Morecambe only increasing his desire to add to his three signings this month. And the Gas are not alone, with multiple eye-catching deals in the offing across the third tier.

Outgoings are on the cards for the Gas, too, meaning the remaining hours of the window promise to be eventful in North Bristol. Here is the latest League One transfer talk with one day to go until the deadline...

Fleetwood's double deal for strikers

Scott Brown's Fleetwood Town have lost three straight in League One and risk getting dragged into the relegation battle, but the Celtic legend is plotting a double deal to boost their survival chances.

Jack Marriott's arrival has been confirmed, with Alan Nixon reporting his move from Peterborough United to Highbury Stadium is worth £250,000, but the former Derby County man is not the only proven goalscorer the Cod Army are adding ahead of the deadline.

Charlton Athletic's out-of-favour target man Jayden Stockley, infamously a high-profile transfer target for the Gas a couple of years ago, has also headed to Fleetwood on a permanent deal after being pushed to the fringes since Dean Holden's arrival at The Valley.

Burton bid sent to relegation rival

In the process of thrashing the Gas on Saturday, Morecambe did their survival hopes the world of good and Cole Stockton was among those on the scoresheet in the 5-1 win at the Mazuma Stadium.

Stockton, who hit 23 goals in League One last season, has been the subject of significant interest from the likes of Fleetwood and Port Vale in recent transfer windows, but the Shrimps have held onto their man until now.

However, Football League World reports fellow strugglers Burton Albion – fresh off losing star striker Victor Adeboyejo to Bolton Wanderers last week – have tabled a bid for the 28-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer.

Charlton winger set for exit

Former Blackpool and Crewe Alexandra winger Charlie Kirk is set to leave Charlton before Tuesday's transfer deadline, according to the South London Press.

Kirk was among the most highly-rated youngsters across the EFL when he came through the ranks at Gresty Road, scoring 32 goals in 26 appearances, earning him a move to the League One Addicks in 2021.

However, the move has not gone to plan for the 25-year-old, who has scored three goals in 40 appearances and spent a spell on loan with Blackpool last year.

Burton Albion are among the clubs in the third tier to have registered an interest in taking Kirk on loan.

Lincoln to splash out £300k

Lincoln City have struck a deal to sign St Mirren midfielder Ethan Erhahon for £300,000, according to Football Insider.

The 21-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs in England, per the report, but the Imps have won the race for the Scotland youth international, who has made more than 100 top-flight appearances north of the border.

Sixteenth-placed Lincoln, who host Rovers at Sincil Bank on February 11, have also signed Queens Park Rangers winger Mide Shodipo in this window as they vie to climb the table and secure their League One status.
