Sunderland drew a blank at Charlton Athletic as the Black Cats missed an opportunity to take a step closer to booking a play-off place.
Alex Neil's side created a series of chances at The Valley but could not find the all-important goal against a Charlton side that went into the game on the back of five successive defeats.
Sunderland dropped out of the play-off places as a result, slipping to seventh in the table.
