Charlotte Crosby says family were 'learning along the way' on how to deal with mum's cancer diagnosis

Charlotte Crosby said that her family were 'learning along the way' with regards to mum Letitia's breast cancer diagnosis - with no one in her family going through the terrifying battle before.

Letitia was diagnosed with breast cancer last year after going for a routine mammogram - being told that she would have to have an operation to remove the tumour and chemotherapy following on.

And in her new BBC Three series Charlotte in Sunderland, the former Geordie Shore star opens up about the diagnosis itself, highlighting tough conversations and circumstances that she and her family were faced with.

In episode six of the brand-new season - which is set after Letitia has had the surgery to remove the tumour in her breast - Charlotte and her mum are seen chatting about the cancer journey at the headquarters of successful fashion brand Pepper Girls Club.

Charlotte opens up the conversation in saying: "It must be a nice feeling to be able to say that technically you're cancer free," with Letitia adding: "Yeah it is, it's really nice and like, I'm over the moon that it's all gone. Like. when you loot at me, there's nothing in me now - it wasn't in my lymph nodes, the tumour was smaller."

She adds: "So next is chemo, which obviously I've had a little bit of a nervous breakdown about that. So, for all it's gone, the journey's not over, and your life's still on a massive hold."

Letitia then says that she feels as though some people don't understand that, before bursting into tears. 32-year-old Charlotte reassures her, before the conversation turns into an argument - with both women in tears and Letitia walking off.

In a cutaway interview, sat with her mum, Charlotte says: "Nobody's been through this before and I think as a family we are learning along the way, and it's hard. It's really hard.

"And I hate arguing with my mam, I hate it - it's awful. Thank god we've got my dad, because he is the voice of reason and the inner calm and peace in the ball of rage."

The show then shows Charlotte's father Gary speaking to his daughter about dealing with the cancer diagnosis, with Charlotte explaining that 'it wasn't meant to be an argument' and that she feels 'terrible'.

Gary says: "You an your mam's had a bit of an argument?" to which Charlotte responds: "So it wasn't meant to be an argument at all, so I feel terrible now - because I feel like it turned into an argument."

Gary adds: "I think your mam is really struggling with the whole thing. I mean I know she's had the operation now but she's still got quite a long way to go in the process. She's the one who's going through it so you're going to have to just try and help her get through it.

"She's a long way from ringing the bell just yet isn't she? She's got a big process to go through."

Charlotte continues: "There is a long way to go and I do realise that, but we're going to support her every step of the way - like what we have done already."
