Charlotte Crosby confirms Geordie Shore 'axe' as MTV make major change

Charlotte Crosby has confirmed that Geordie Shore has effectively been 'axed' as MTV bosses make a major change to the show that has been on TV for the last 12 years and move away from the cast all living in its famous house.

Sunderland born TV personality Charlotte was one of the original Geordie Shore cast members when the programme made a rather controversial debut back in 2011, staying on it for five years before making a fraught exit in the summer of 2016. Like fellow originals, like James Tindale, Sophie Kasaei and Holly Hagan, Charlotte went back into the fold for the Geordie Shore Reunion, a big ratings success for MTV last year.

After the cast reunited at a huge party in Newcastle in front of cameras, many of them then headed of for a group holiday to Portugal, with Holly's wedding in Ibiza and Charlotte's pregnancy announcement also filmed.

And Charlotte has hinted that it's what the cast are up to now in their personal lives which will be producers' focus going forward, as, reported by The Sun, she claims there are no plans for stars to go back into the Geordie Shore house to film. The famous TV party pad has been the backbone of the show since day one, but Charlotte says that the format of the cast living in there for weeks to film each series looks like being dead in the water now.

Appearing on the Secure The Insecure podcast with Johnny Seifert, Charlotte told the host "Geordie Shore, the show where people are going live in the house isn't being filmed this year. No. It stopped that one, it hasn't been filmed for a long time."

She said that she doesn't think Geordie Shore in its familiar format revolving around the house 'will ever be filmed again,' adding: "This is what I've gauged with the situation is that you will never see a series of Geordie Shore where people go and live in that house for the whole duration ever again."

Charlotte's BBC series Charlotte in Sunderland, which followed her in the months leading up to the birth of daughter Alba Jean, released its final episodes this week, just as she and other Geordie Shore stars went back into filming for Holly's baby shower.
