Charlotte Church says she was 'terribly' bullied at private school for being poor

Charlotte Church has revealed she got ‘terribly’ bullied at private school because she was poor.

The Welsh singer said she received a scholarship to Cathedral School in Cardiff – which now has fees of £4,605 per term – but left because she was picked on so badly.

Speaking on the Full Disclosure podcast, the 35-year-old said she was teased because she arrived in a ‘s****y’ Ford Fiesta that had doors that would not open from the inside so she had to climb out the boot.

Church added she stood up for herself and gave one bully a piece of her mind after joining the school at the age of 11.

She said: “I got a scholarship to the Cathedral School which is a posh prep school where I get a scholarship as a girl chorister.

“I get terribly bullied there because I’m poor and we have got this s****y Fiesta where the doors don’t open from the inside so I have to climb out the boot every morning.

“I left because of bullying – they were terrible. I stood up for myself at the end though and gave the one boy a piece of my mind. He is (now) somewhere being incredibly rich and capitalistic I imagine.”
