Charlotte Church says 'all of my life' has led her to building her Welsh retreat

Appearing on Loose Women Welsh musical star Charlotte Church says "all of her life" has led her to building a Welsh retreat called Wilding. Charlotte documented her journey turning Laura Ashley's former home in Powys into a wellness retreat on the Discovery+ Channel and you can see what the full renovation looks like here.

Open for bookings now, Charlotte spoke about why she took on such an ambitious project. She said: "I've spent the last two years putting my heart and soul into renovating it...all of my life has led me here, all sorts of different reasons."

Charlotte explained mental health played a big role in wanting to open and run a wellness retreat. She said: "My own mental health, my family and friend's mental health, just sort of seeing how much people are struggling in society in general...I just wanted to create something people could come and just be peaceful and restful."

While building the retreat Charlotte said she only had one regret, which was not building a better relationship with neighbours. Speaking on her documentary series she said: "My only regret is not involving the local community from the start... I totally hear their concerns and their worries but I just want to be able to have a conversation with them."

The successful singer spoke about rising to fame aged just 12 and then being under intense media scrutiny while on Loose Women. She said she had "all sorts of different struggles throughout my life" and believes well-being and therapy can help everyone with their mental health.

Charlotte also spoke about the "harrowing" experience of growing up famous. She said: "The pressures particularly with the way I and my family were treated by the press was harrowing, a lot of shame, I had all sorts of different stories written about me, about my family, about my boyfriends."
