Charlotte Church's 'pain' at giving birth to daughter at 17 weeks due to miscarriage

Charlotte Church has opened up about her trauma of giving birth to her daughter who she tragically miscarried at 17 weeks.

The former Classical singer, 35, said it was 'mindblowing' to 'witness that kind of pain and that suffering'.

The Welsh star recalled her personal tragedy at the loss of her baby girl she was expecting with husband Jonathan Powell, during her appearance on Kate Garraway's Life Stories.

Speaking of the loss, she told Kate: "That was uniquely painful, I love pregnancy, I love birth.

"She was about 17 weeks and I went through that birth."

Discussing the impact it had on her family, she said: 'It was so formative for us as a family. We just held onto each other so tightly.

''There was a beauty because I gave birth. That pain and that suffering... to witness the bookends of life and death in one moment is mindblowing.''

The singer went on to have a daughter called Frida, now 18 months, with husband Jonathan Powell in March 2021 .

She also shares teenagers Ruby, 14, and 13-year-old Dexter with ex Gavin Henson, 40.

Charlotte revealed she was pregnant on stage at Birmingham Pride, but just three weeks later she announced her sad news.

At the time Charlotte told her followers: ''Charlotte and Jonny are very sad to announce that they lost their baby. Now is a time for grieving and being together as a family. We kindly ask everyone to respect that peace.''

Charlotte also received praise and positive comments about her appearance on Kate Garraway's Life Stories as fans said she came across as real and genuine.

One said: "#CharlotteChurch is my kind of girl straight, direct and bloody gorgeous"

Another said: "What a lovely way to come across x well done Charlotte x"

A third added: "Fantastic interview, so down to earth!"

The former pop star is now making her mark on property world buying legendary Welsh fashion designer Laura Ashley's former home in Powys, called Rhydoldog House.

The Discovery Channel show has seen her 'pretty much pour her life savings' into the project to create a dream business and home in the country.
