Charlotte Church will be the first guest to appear on Kate Garraway's Life Stories, on Thursday, February 3.
The intimate and revealing series, formerly hosted by Pier's Morgan, is now in the hands of Kate Garraway and episode one will see Welsh singer songwriter Charlotte Church opening up about her turbulent love-life and the truth behind her tabloid image.
Last month we welcomed Charlotte back onto our screens as brilliant new reality show, Charlotte Church's Dream Build, hit channel, Discovery Really.
The 35-year-old singer has previously said that she needed a break from the celebrity spotlight and plans to renovate a £1.5m property into a well-being and healing health retreat for herself, her family and as a profitable business with the venue being also intended for use as an occasional wedding venue and glamping business
Wales Online reported that Charlotte admitted she's taking a massive risk as she begins her journey renovating fashion designer Laura Ashley's former mansion in Powys, called Rhydoldog House.
During the first episode Charlotte revealed she'd poured her life savings into the project which needs to be completed by June 2022 in order to meet the summer season and start making revenue.
The singer said: "If we don't get it done by the start of June I'm up sh*t creek without a paddle! I'm in a lot of trouble."
Dad's death and step-dad's illness
Charlotte's late-father Stephen Reed was not involved in her childhood and, when mother Maria married her second husband in 1999, James Church, he adopted Charlotte and she took his last name.
The singer is very close to her step-father, who was sadly diagnosed with AL amyloidosis, a condition similar to blood cancer, in 2019 and is living with the terminal illness.
Speaking to Hello at the time of his diagnosis, the singer said: "It's absolutely terrifying the idea of not having him around. I rely on him for so much, he's my buddy, my absolute best friend and has been for years."
Charlotte's biological father, Stephen Reed from whom she remained estranged throughout her life, died in February this year at the age of 56 after contracting COVID.
It's clear the singer has faced some sadness but is now prioritising self-care.
In a recent Instagram post in which she shared an image of herself looking fresh-faced and reading a book called Soulcraft: Crossing into the Mysteries of Nature and Psyche, she said: "I have my nose firmly inside this exceptional book, which is changing my life currently!
"So nourishing for the soul, looking at how we reconnect with nature. In doing so, uncovering hidden parts of ourselves."
Career
Charlotte's glittering music career began when she was 11-years-old.
She appeared on ITV's Big, Big Talent Show presented by Jonathan Ross, and sang Andrew Lloyd Webber's Pie Jesu so beautifully that she propelled herself instantly to stardom.
Charlotte went on to perform huge concerts at the Royal Albert Hall and Cardiff Arms Park with Rupert Murdoch even asking her to sing the song at his wedding to Wendy Deng in 1999.
She's recorded six studio albums and appeared in a number of TV shows including: The Charlotte Church Show and Have I Got News for You.
Marriages and children
Charlotte shares two children, Ruby (14) and Dexter (12), with her ex-boyfriend, rugby player Gavin Henson.
She's married to musician Johnny Powell and together they welcomed a daughter, Freda, in 2021.
Political Activism
Charlotte has been vocal over a number of high-profile political and social-justice issues most notably in 2013, when she gave a lecture at The Lowry in Salford and criticised the music industry for what she described as a culture of sexism that pressures female artists to project a sexualised image of themselves.
She also appeared at the Leveson Inquiry as a victim of the News of the World phone hacking scandal and spoke out on the steps of the courthouse after having settled her case for £600,000.
Wales Online reported at the time that in a statement outside the Royal Courts of Justice, the singer said money "could never mend" the damage that was done to her and her family but she planned to put the payout she was awarded towards protecting herself and her children from further invasions of their privacy.
In May 2016, she declared her support for the Welsh nationalist party, Plaid Cymru.
And in January 2017, she took part in a protest against Donald Trump's inauguration as US president.
