Charlie Murphy might have 'fecked up' Love/Hate audition if she knew how big the part was

Actress Charlie Murphy, known for her role in Peaky Blinders among other shows, has opened up about how she may have “fecked up” in her audition for her role in the hit crime series Love/Hate if she had known how it would change her life.

The Enniscorthy native attended the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, from 2006 to 2008, but it wasn't until 2010, that Murphy got her breakout role in Love/Hate playing Siobhan Delaney.

However, the actress has landed some serious gigs since playing the role, landing spots in Misfits and The Village as well as a part in Northmen: A Viking Saga.

Speaking in an interview published in the RTÉ Guide, the Happy Valley actress explained: "Suddenly I got the call for Love/Hate. It was just a few lines but I was excited to be considered.

"Looking back now, I had no idea how big my part was going to be. It was probably just as well because I might have fecked up the audition.

"But none of us assumed it would be this big. We knew as actors it was a brilliant script and we hoped people would enjoy it.”

The now 34-year-old added that when she went to her initial audition, she did not have the full script for the first episode.

"I just had my lines and I was thinking, 'God what's this all about?' When I got the part, I was thinking, that's brilliant. I'll get some more experience.

"I knew Tom Vaughan-Lawlor from the theatre world and I had worked before with Killian Scott but I wasn't thinking it would be a landmark TV show."
