Forest Green Rovers are closing in on a deal for Rangers midfielder Charlie McCann.
The Northern Ireland squad member is set to move to the English League One side on a permanent deal. Forest Green have struck an agreement with Rangers for the talented 20-year-old and he has travelled south for talks. McCann was offered a new deal at Rangers but is at a stage in his career where he wants to play regular first-team football.
The ambitious midfielder was offered a new deal at Rangers but wasn’t convinced there was a pathway to become a first-team regular. Rangers were keen for him to remain part of their first-team squad but McCann believes he would be more beneficial playing regular first-team football. Rangers signed McCann from Manchester United back in 2021. McCann has 12 appearances for Rangers and the Colts this season, scoring five goals in the process. His last appearance was in the weekend’s Viaplay Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen last weekend.
