Charlton Athletic winger Charlie Kirk has emerged as a transfer target for Hibs. The Easter Road club have expressed an interest in the 24-year-old but have still to make an offer.
Lee Johnson admitted at the weekend that he was still looking to strengthen his squad and that had been heightened by Aiden McGeady ’s long-term injury. Charlton will listen to offers for Kirk but will want to recoup as much of the £500,000 they paid to land him from Crewe Alexandra last year.
New Charlton boss Ben Garner is trying to rebuild his own squad and looks like his club would be open to offers. Kirk joined Blackpool on loan in January with an option to buy this summer but the Seasiders decided against making the move permanent. Blackpool, ironically, moved for Kirk after they had sold Demetri Mitchell to Hibs. Kirk currently has a contract at the Valley until June 2025.
Johnson suffered the nightmare start to life in Scottish football as Hibs crashed out the Premier Sports Cup at the group stage after being punished for fielding the eligible Rocky Bushiri. But he will be desperate to build on the 1-0 Scottish Premiership victory away to St Johnstone on Saturday.
Hibs have been busy in the summer window so far and Johnson has landed a boost with new recruits Matija Cabraja and Elie Youan, who are finally having their work permits finalised last week.
