Charlie Bird thanks supporters for helping him fulfil bucket list

Charlie Bird has expressed his gratitude towards supporters a month on from meeting Bruce Springsteen.

The veteran journalist is a life-long fan of the 'Born to Run' singer. He met the rock n roll legend after his followers took to Twitter and shared his request to meet Bruce.

Charlie previously shared that meeting the star was the last remaining item on his bucket list. He continues to play 'Land of Hope and Dreams' each night before he goes to bed.

The 73-year-old wrote on Twitter: "I now cry every night with Bruce's words ringing in my ears. This amazing gesture happened because of the love and kindness I have received from all over the country. Thank you all."

Charlie was able to attend Bruce Springsteen's concert despite recent health setbacks. The broadcaster had sustained injuries in two separate falls prior to the highly anticipated RDS gig.

He continues to speak candidly about his diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease. Charlie also campaigns for suicide prevention charity the Samaritans and recently manned their stall at major gardening festival Bloom.
