In a massive win for film bros everywhere, pop music queen Charli xcx has had her Letterboxd account leaked, revealing all her thoughts on movies this year to the public. Turns out being a cinema nerd is brat now.
Weeks after her album’s name, brat, was dubbed word of the year, Charli xcx has suddenly found more eyes on her after her Letterboxd profile was leaked to the public.
For those of you who aren’t in the know — presumably because of your rampant social lives — Letterboxd is a social platform where anyone is able to log, review, and rate films they’ve watched. Think Goodreads, but for film bros instead of bookworms.
Now thanks to fans who discovered the name of the “Guess” singer’s account, we can finally see what one of the year’s most influential artists thinks about over a thousand films.
Charli xcx’s Letterboxd reviews are brat
Since having her profile — simply named “itscharlibb” — go public the star has changed her account’s description to reflect her new lack of anonymity.
“My account got leaked I guess,” reads the new profile bio.
With more than 200 films watched in 2024 alone, Charli’s Letterboxd profile is enough to make even the most die-hard of film nerds envy how many films she’s been able to squeeze in.
After being leaked to the public, the profile has skyrocketed to have more than 100,000 followers, with many of her reviews amassing thousands of likes — a major feat by Letterboxd standards.
Charli’s review for the recent Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothée Chalamet, A Complete Unknown, has had fans giggling, with the star simply writing: “There were a lot of songs in this!”
Another iconic movie from 2024, Challengers, also received a humourous review from Charli that gave a new insight into her 2024 Met Gala look.
“Was so amped after watching this I ended up going out til 5am with Harrison [Patrick Smith] and then was super hungover for the met,” she wrote in May 2024.
“Worth it though.”
Another classic review from the brat queen was for the 2011 film Moneyball, which is a sport comedy starring Brad Pitt.
“This isn’t for British people,” she wrote.
Also featuring in plenty of reviews was Charli’s fiancé, George Daniel, whose activities during the pop star’s movie viewing often went documented.
“Watched this whilst George built Lego,” read Charli’s review of The Tragedy Of Macbeth (2021).
Also revealed in the Letterboxd profile was the dates of when the “Mean girls” singer watched certain films, including an impressive quintuple-feature session on Christmas this year.
Fans feel bad for Charli xcx’s account getting leaked
Not all Charli’s fans are thrilled that they no have access to such personal information about her viewing habits, and have shared online they empathise with her for losing her ability to share whatever she wanted on the platform.
“Pretty cool on one hand, but I bet the loss of anonymity sucks,” wrote one fan on Reddit.
“Now every review she posts is a whole thing and she probably can’t just post random thoughts about movies like before.”
Others pointed out that though Charli didn’t attempt to conceal a variety personal details in her reviews or profile, the fact the account is now public could result in less activity from her.
“She seems to be very open about her identity in all her reviews — hopefully she doesn’t go dark now that it’s out,” one person commented.
Other stars who’ve had their Letterboxd accounts go public include Margot Robbie, who had her’s discovered in 2022, and Ayo Edebiri.
