Charli XCX's dining room is a 'treasure-trove' of one-of-a-kind pieces – it's the most unique hosting space I've ever seen (and surprisingly replicable)

Charli XCX.

A dining room is typically decorated with others in mind; that is, guests that you presumably would be hosting in the space. However, Charli XCX has made the case for making a dining room feel totally personal.

The singer's dining space, which is a focal point of her Tudor-style home, features mismatched dining chairs, unexpected, colorful accents, wall art, and elegant lighting. Listed together, it may not sound like these elements are a natural fit, but the mix of vintage-style and modern pieces makes the space feel unique.

When considering dining room ideas, it is certainly important to work with the proportions of the space you have, but after seeing Charli XCX's space, we are convinced that leaning on the side of eccentricity is the way to go – and experts agree.

According to experts, mixing and matching decor in a dining room, like Charli XCX has done, is a fantastic way to personalize your space, maintain visual interest, and stay on trend.

'Mismatched tables and chairs are being favoured over a uniform dining set. Mixing materials and styles adds a contemporary feel and visual interest, adding character to the room,' says Sam Deeble, Home Interiors Expert at Woods Furniture.'Mismatched sets are expected to be in high demand this spring as many seek to create a stand-out room. This contemporary trend creates an eclectic design for a visually appealing space.'

Additionally, infusing a dining space with colors and patterns (in the vein of dopamine decor) is a perfect way to ensure your dining room feels vibrant and aligned with personal design preferences.

'Designing a home that resonates with your personality and interests is a common trend this year, with this introduced in dining rooms in 2025,' Sam explains. 'Embrace colors and patterns to awaken your dining area, creating a visually appealing space that brings joy and encourages socialization. This trend can be incorporated using decor pieces for a subtle effect or introduce colour using furniture, floor, and walls for a bolder finish.'

The mix of patterns and textures in Charli's space, from her soft, tufted rug to her sturdy, wood bookcase, is a perfect example of this blend. Additionally, her mix of various furniture styles, from Art Deco to Regency-era, makes for a space that is incredibly interesting to look at.

If, like us, your design tastes span different styles, colors, and textures, then personalizing your dining space is a great way to experiment with your interests.
