Since the Golden State Warriors traded Jordan Poole in a deal to acquire Chris Paul, a lot has been said about the 24-year-old guard. Last summer, Poole was involved in an incident with Draymond Green which led to the veteran forward punching the young guard. Fast forward 12 months, and Poole’s relationship with his now former Warriors teammates is still a hot topic.
According to Charles Barkley, who was speaking with NBC Sports Bay Area, Golden State’s decision to trade Poole this summer is proof that they ‘really hated’ him. It’s worth noting that Barkley was simply sharing an opinion rather than reporting a fact.
“They hated Jordan Poole,” Barkley said. “They really hated Jordan Poole. “That’s the No. 1 thing I said to myself: They really hated Jordan Poole.”
Poole will now get the chance to become a focal point of the Washington Wizards’ rebuild alongside Kyle Kuzma, while the Warriors have another veteran guard in Paul to help them continue challenging for championships. As such, it would appear the recent trade has worked out well for everybody involved.
Nevertheless, Poole’s tenure with the Warriors ended under a cloud of uncertainty and discontent. Green and Poole have spent the past few weeks taking shots at each other via podcasts and social media. However, Warriors fans will likely be hoping the entire saga between the two players can now be put to bed so that both the Wizards and Golden State can start shifting their focus onto the upcoming season.
