Charity fundraiser Speedo Mick thanks Scots for support as he arrives in Glasgow

Fundraiser Speedo Mick has reached Glasgow in his 'final ever stomp' for charity as he thanked Scots for their support along the way.

Michael Cullen, 58, is walking a 1,000 mile trek from John O'Groats to Land's End in a pair of blue speedos to raise cash for mental health and suicide prevention. He has raised more than £800,000 for charity in the last seven years by doing similar challenges and swimming the English Channel in 2014.

Mick is now hoping to raise £200,000 on his final challenge so he can reach the £1million milestone from his fundraising efforts over the years. So far, over £75,000 has been raised for his final stomp for The SpeedoMick Foundation as he plans to hang up his blue trunks to spend more time with his loved ones.

The charity will give grants to small charities that support mental health awareness, disadvantaged young people, and people experiencing homelessness.

After scaling Ben Nevis in his swimming trunks last week, Speedo Mick made it to George Square on Thursday ahead of his trek to Larkhall, South Lanarkshire.

Posting on his Facebook page, he said: "I've made it to #FreedomSquare #georgesquare #Glasgow!

"I’d like to say a massive thank you to John for presenting me with a lovely prezzie.

"Made up to be in my first big city of my final 1000 mile stomp - the support I've received so far has been overwhelming."

Mick, from Liverpool, was gifted a Renfrewshire football shirt by a fan who greeted him in George Square. In a video, he thanked everyone in Glasgow for looking after him.

He later added: "Glasgow you've been amazing but its time for me to continue my stomp on to Larkhall today

"Thank you for all your support, donations, shares, likes, beeps and hellos they mean the world to me. Let’s keep getting the message out there, it’s ok to not be ok."

Mick walks around 15 miles per day which roughly takes seven hours with people stopping to chat and ask for photos.

Mental health awareness and suicide prevention is a cause close to his heart after suffering his own mental health struggles for most of his adult life.

The Liverpudlian said although he is "no spring chicken" the fundraising "is not over yet, we have this last walk to complete before I say goodbye to my stomping days".
