A charity match will be held in Ballyfermot this Saturday to support two young members who are currently battling leukemia.
Ballyfermot United will play against Ex-League of Ireland Allstars on February 12 at 2pm, with the game being held to support six-year-old Caiden Molloy and nine-year-old Keilan O'Shea, who have both being diagnosed with leukemia.
A GoFundMe page has been set up and it reads: "Caiden is a member at our great club and we want to show him, his fellow warrior Keilan and their families that Everyone at Ballyfermot United and in the community of Ballyfermot is 100% behind them, we have set up a Gofundme so people who can't attend on the day or people who want to donate can do so via our link.
"All Proceeds raised via the link and the day will be donated to both families."
Speaking to Dublin Live, organiser John Belmont said: "The game has come about to help support two boys in our Community Caiden Molloy aged 6 and Keilan O'Shea aged 9 who have both been diagnosed with Leukemia.
"Caiden is a member of our Junior Academy at Ballyfermot United and we wanted to show both families that as a club and a community we are all behind them.
"We set out to arrange a Charity Match where a team of Ballyfermot United Coaches and players past and present would take on a side made up of Ex-League of Ireland Allstars and I must say we have been blown away by the support from these Allstars, we have some of the biggest names to have played in League of Ireland donating their time and support to this great cause."
The match will take place at the Coldcut, Prison Road and on the day entry is €5 per person with kids under 5 going free and there will also offer a family discount.
According to John, they will have a number refreshments on sale from drinks, sweets, hot dogs and burgers.
There will also be running a raffle with some cracking prizes and maybe even a couple more surprises on the day.
John said: "We have some big household names taking playing for the Allstars team like Paul Byrne and Marc Kenny. We are doing the charity match to support both Caiden and Keilan who are fighting cancer, they have been very brave and we want them and their families to know that Ballyfermot is 100% behind them."
According to John, plenty of local businesses have gotten involved with the charity match and there will also be a number of very special guests in attendance on the day.
John said: "The people of Ballyfermot really do know how to look after their own, I will say we are absolutely blown away with the amount of support we are receiving.
"We're all looking forward to it and hoping it will be a good game on the day."
