Charges have been dropped against an Adelaide man accused of sexual offences against two students at his high school.

The now 19-year-old – who cannot be identified as he was a youth at the time of his arrest in 2021– was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 17, sexual intercourse without consent and engaging in sexual intercourse after consent was withdrawn.

At the time, the South Australian Department for Education said that the alleged incidents in May 2019, December 2020 and February 2021 involved public school students and occurred off-site and outside of school hours.

But all charges have now been withdrawn against the man who was aged 16 and 17 at the time.

The media has been banned from attending most of the man's hearings.

While he was on bail, he was prohibited from leaving his western suburbs home between 9pm and 6am, except to attend work at a fast-food outlet.

He was also banned from approaching or having any contact with the alleged victims.

But last October he pleaded guilty to breaching his bail by phoning one of them.

His lawyer told the Adelaide Magistrates Court his client had accidentally called one of his alleged victims while transferring contacts to a new mobile phone.

The magistrate accepted the explanation and spared the man a conviction.
