Hortiz started his NFL career as an area scout for the Ravens in 1998 before becoming a national scout in 2006. In 2009, Hortiz became Baltimore’s director of college scouting and took over as the director of player personnel in 2019.
Hortiz will take over a talented roster with a star quarterback already in place for the foreseeable future in Justin Herbert and a familiar head coach with previous success at the NFL level with the San Francisco 49ers as they look to keep up in a division dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs.
