Char Dham Yatra: Registration opens tomorrow on U'khand Tourist App; For details...

Dehradun: The registration for the Char Dham Yatra opens tomorrow on Sunday, and can be completed both online and offline. 

A State Tourism App has been introduced to facilitate registration. The special rituals like Rudrabhishek also require online booking in advance.

The Holy Char Dham Yatra takes devotees to four significant shrines: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. 

Here is a brief profile of these Himalayan sites that hold religious significance and attract lakhs of pilgrims annually seeking spiritual fulfillment.

Yamunotri Dham: 

Yamunotri Dham

The pilgrimage begins at Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Pilgrims must trek 6 km from Janki Chatti to reach the temple. Built by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal, the temple is an important spiritual site.

Gangotri Dham: 

Gangotri Dham

The second stop is Gangotri, dedicated to the River Ganges. Located at an altitude of 3,048 meters, the temple is a place of devotion for those who seek to honor the sacred river.

Kedarnath Dham

Kedarnath, the third destination, is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga Temples in India. Set at 3,584 meters, the temple is surrounded by the Himalayas. According to legend, the temple was originally built by the Pandavas and later restored by Adi Shankaracharya.

Badrinath Dham: 

Badrinath Dham

The final destination is Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It houses a 3.3-meter black stone idol of Badrinarayan and dates back to the Vedic era. Though renovated over time, the temple’s inner sanctum has remained unchanged.
