Chappell Roan hopes she never has a hit again.
The 26-year-old singer has endured a meteoric rise to fame over the course of the last year and admitted the toll it has taken has made part of her wish that her future music is less successful.
She told Rolling Stone magazine: "Part of me hopes I never have a hit again because then no one will ever expect anything from me again.
"Nothing about my life is like me anymore. I feel like I just let my self down so much because I'm not how I used to be."
Roan also revealed how fame has affected her dating life.
She said: "My brain is so scattered and I just don't feel like myself. I met this girl that I really like but I can't commit because I feel like no one understands me. I don't want to date another artist because they're f****** nuts. I'm so avoidant because I'm just like, 'She'll never get me. She'll never get it.'"
However, Roan, who has survived previous setbacks in her career, including being dropped by her first label four years ago, admitted that being a pop star is her "dream job".
She said: "It's my dream job. I never know if it's going to be like this ever again, which is kind of scary".
Speaking about Atlantic, her previous label, she said: "It feels so good to prove them wrong because they weren't just a little wrong. They were really, really, really wrong. To know that my gut instinct was right is the best feeling in the world. Purposeful revenge does not feel good but revenge by accident feels awesome.”
