American singer-songwriter and lesbian icon Chappell Roan has begun teasing her upcoming single “The Giver” through a hotline promo: and it involved cosplaying as a lawyer and a dentist. Obsessed!!
The promotional images were splayed onto billboards, wrapped around telephone poles and plastered onto New York’s Time Square and each included a phone number that fans could call to hear a short yet cryptic message.

When the number, 620-468-8646 (AKA: 620-HOT-TOGO), was called, fans reported a variety of choices were offered and could be selected via the number’s keypad.
Pressing one, for example, offered fans a chance to book “an appointment to the dentist”, while pressing two is for folks who want to “reach an attorney” and pressing three is for reporting a “plumbing issue”. Does this mean we’ll see a plumber-inspired Chappell fit soon!? (Move aside, Mario.)
Each option led to a quick snippet of the new track.
The country-inspired tune was first teased in her live performance on Saturday Night Live (SNL) last year, and is set to be made available for streaming later this year in August.

Roan’s more subdued look takes a swift departure from her usual super-glitzy getup, but that’s just what makes her lawyer and dentist cosplay that much more authentic – and frankly, we’re bloody obsessed with it all.
Plus, the tagline “dental dams aren’t just for dentists” is just iconic. Plain and simple.

The promo images were cooked up by Roan’s creative director Ramisha Sattar, and Roan’s super-schmick makeup was provided by Nick Lennon.
Fans have reacted to Roan’s promo stunt on social media, with Reddit users describing it as “so funny and clever”.
“Now this is how you do advertising,” one user wrote.
“Telling my BF to hang this up at his dentist office workplace ASAP,” wrote another.
