Three people have been rushed to hospital after two separate incidents on the same stretch of road in Horsforth.
At around 12pm Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) and West Yorkshire Police (WYP) were called to Station Road in Horsforth, outside Horsforth train station, and found two vehicles involved in a crash. Two ambulances attended to the scene as well as a Hazardous Area Response Team from YAS.
Two people were rushed to Leeds General Infirmary to be treated. Soon after, YAS crews got a call about a cyclist being hit by a car outside Horsforth train station in Station Road.
YAS confirmed that at 1.23pm two ambulances were called to the scene and found a man injured. He was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary. The major incidents blocked Station Road, the bridge above Horsforth Train Station, from around 1pm until 1.30pm.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We have attended two collisions on Station Road, Horsforth, Leeds this afternoon. We received an emergency call at 12.14pm to reports of a collision involving two vehicles and dispatched two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and our Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene.
"Two patients were conveyed to Leeds General Infirmary. At 1.23pm we received another emergency call to report a collision between a car and cyclist on the same road which had been partially reopened following the earlier incident. Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Leeds General Infirmary."
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called at 12.17pm by ambulance service, reports of a collision involving two vehicles on Station Road, Horsforth. One man believed to be injured. Road was been re-opened shortly before 1.30pm."
Leeds City Council issued a statement, via its Connecting Leeds Travel Info Twitter page, it said: "Station Road in Horsforth now open to traffic by Horsforth railway station and Troy Road with traffic operating one way at a time past this road traffic collision."
Public transport routes were affected with First Bus routes disrupted. The bus operator said on social media: "Reports that the Railway Bridge is closed at Station Road, Horsforth, due to an incident. Traffic congestion is building in the area and we're experiencing disruption on service 50A due to this."
