It was a highlight of the last series of Saturday Night Takeaway and hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly issued a warning as one of their popular segments made a comeback. Last year Ant and Dec took a moment out to 'apologise' for the chaos caused by their new game Ring My Bell.
The popular duo said sombrely "we just want to apologise" as they addressed the complaints from viewers that dogs across the country were being driven crazy by the sound of Ring doorbells. The zany game goes live homes of audience members via their doorbell camera as neighbours race to ring the bell for a £500 cash prize.
The neighbours have 45 seconds to get to the door and declare "ring my bell." But many fans of the ITV family show complained that the sound of the doorbells had sent pet pooches dogs mad, thinking that someone was at their own door.

And 'chaos' broke out again tonight in the second episode of the new series as Ant and Dec declared that the game was back. They warned jokingly that viewers should "put earmuffs on your dogs" as more randomly selected bells sounded.
If the audience member recognises the doorbell as their own, they stand up to shout “Ding Dong! That’s my Doorbell!”, prompting the nearby neighbours to sprint to their house for the chance to speak to Ant and Dec through the doorbell camera. Participants were asked to bring an item with them.
But there were comical scenes and confusion as a group of people, all holding saucepans, turned up at a door but didnt' say "ring my bell." As Ant and Dec picked out a man at the front to claim the cash, he started to walk away until he was told to "get back."
"Get back! Where are you going? it's chaos," said Ant. And he explained: "If somebody says 'ring my bell' then you're going to win £500, say it."
But nobody did and instead they just held up their pans in triumph. This prompted Ant and Dec to tell them they'd all won and could split the cash.
@SuzeHopper1 commented: "I love the chaos that #RingMyBell causes, everytime it features on the show." @Charlie__Tweets said: "Always carnage when things are live." @2001joe_mendy wrote: "Chaos & bedlam already and that was just the first one." And @teenamassam laughed: "Saucepan chaos…"
Then the next doorbell challenge saw neighbours asked to bring a duvet with them, which one woman managed to do. @sarahnaomi151 observed: "I don’t think I could get up and back downstairs with a duvet in 45 seconds never mind get to the neighbours."
Other viewers reported back to say their dogs were acting up over the doorbell sounds. @bigsistercathy tweeted: "Dog going mad at Ring my Bell." @emmielukis said: "My dogs are going berserk with the Ring doorbells."
@LennyJa47860606 told the show: !#SaturdayNightTakeaway cheers, dogs gone bonkers." @obrien20_alison wrote: "Omg everytime the doorbell goes on @antanddec #SaturdayNightTakeaway the dog goes nuts and runs to the door barking." And @_hayleyxx said: "This ring my doorbell game is setting my dog off thinking it’s our ring doorbell."
And other fans loved seeing it back on their screens. @BellaMount72 applauded: "Gotta love @antanddec Saturday night takeaway but can't we just do the whole show of ring my bells." And @ayesleft said: "Ring my bell is the best part of #SaturdayNightTakeaway."
@itscominghomexx messaged: "#SaturdayNightTakeaway absolutely loving ring me bell." And @Simy_78 said: "Ring my Bell needs to be a stand alone game show of its own."
