Actors Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have reached a settlement to finalize their divorce, avoiding a forthcoming trial that was scheduled to begin in December. This resolution comes six years after Dewan initially filed for divorce, marking the end of their marriage that began in July 2009.

The couple, who share a 13-year-old daughter named Everly, decided to stipulate to the terms of the settlement in a court filing on Wednesday. By reaching this agreement, Tatum and Dewan have managed to keep the details of their split confidential, pending approval by a judge.

Both actors have moved on to other long-term relationships since their separation. Tatum is currently involved with actor and director Zoë Kravitz, while Dewan is in a relationship with actor Steve Kazee, with whom she shares two children.

Tatum and Dewan first met as co-stars in the 2006 dance movie “Step Up,” where their careers as dancers initially took off. Despite announcing their split in April 2018, the divorce proceedings continued for several years, with disputes over finances and custody becoming increasingly contentious as the trial date approached.

Before the settlement, Dewan had been advocating for separate trials to address custody and financial matters, a proposal that Tatum had opposed. The agreement reached by the couple has now averted the need for a trial and the potential public disclosure of private details.

While Tatum has been known for his roles in films like “Magic Mike” and “21 Jump Street,” he took a step back from acting in the years following the split, citing his focus on fatherhood as the reason for his hiatus. Dewan, on the other hand, continued to pursue her acting career and is currently a regular on the ABC series “The Rookie.”
