Channel 5's Dan Walker left 'heartbroken' by interview with Nicola Bulley's partner Paul Ansell

Dan Walker has told viewers it was 'heartbreaking' to interview Paul Ansell, the partner of Nicola Bulley, as Channel 5 gets set to air a special programme on the missing 45-year-old on Friday night.

It's now been two weeks since mum of two Nicola has been seen, with her going for a walk with dog Willow, close to the River Wyre in Lancashire. Nicola's phone was found on a nearby bench, with it still connected to a Teams call she had been on.

Efforts to find the missing mortgage advisor have seen the river searched by both police dive teams and expert divers led by Peter Faulding, with the search for her now expanding out to Morecambe Bay and the sea. Lancashire Police have been giving daily updates on the investigation, with police also issuing dispersal notice in order to keep the public away from sensitive search areas.

The search for Nicola has so far drawn a blank, although her disappearance remains a huge story online and on TV news. And, on Friday night, Channel 5 will air its special Vanished: Where Is Nicola Bulley? at 9pm.

The special programme will see her partner Paul sit down with ex BBC Breakfast and Football Focus host Dan. He previewed the show on Twitter on Friday afternoon. Sharing a photo of himself and revealing how upset the interview had made him, Dan wrote: "It was heartbreaking to interview Paul Ansell for our special programme on his missing partner, Nicola Bulley. Paul is going through hell but says “Nicky would never give up on us so we will never give up on her”

Former Strictly contestant Dan initially teased details of what to expect from Vanished on Thursday, tweeting: "Tomorrow we have a special programme on the search for Nicola Bulley. We’ll speak to experts, police, friends and family in an attempt to establish the facts in a case where a mum of two has seemingly disappeared without a trace."
