It's.... The Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney TV drama and it's finally coming to our screens!
Back in May, we all remember the infamous Wagatha Christie trial kicking off in court between the two WAGs and now it's time for the TV series to play out on our screens.
The drama all began back in October, 9, 2019, when Wayne Rooney's wife Coleen accused Jamie Vardy's wife Rebekah of leaking false stories about her to the press.
Coleen posted a statement online, saying that she had been carrying out some research of her own and outed Rebekah as the culprit, she wrote: "There has been so much information given to them about me, my friends and my family — all without my permission or knowledge. After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be, for various reasons, I had a suspicion.
“To try and prove this I came up with an idea. I blocked everyone from viewing my Instagram stories except one account. Over the past five months I have posted a series of false stories to see if they made their way into the newspaper. And you know what they did! The story about gender selection in Mexico, the story about returning to TV and the latest story about the basement flooding in my new house."
She added: “It’s been tough keeping it to myself and not making any comment at all, especially when the stories have been leaked, however I had to. Now I know for certain which account it’s come from. I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them.
“It’s……….Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
However, Mrs Vardy, 40, said that Coleen's accusation was simply not true and took her to court, but she then she lost her high-profile libel claim against Mrs Rooney, 36, in July when Mrs Justice Steyn ruled that the viral social media post accusing Mrs Vardy of leaking her private information to the press was "substantially true".
And now as the dramatic recreation of the sensational trial is about to air, we have put together everything you need to know about the two-part docu-series 'Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama'...
When and where will it air?
The brand new two-part drama series will air exclusively on Channel 4 at 9pm on Wednesday, December 21. The second episode will air on Thursday, December 22 at 9pm.
The programme can be found on Freeview channel 104, Sky channel 138, Virgin 141, BT 104 and Freesat 126.
Cast
Viewers might recognise the actors who are portraying the WAGs in the Channel 4 programme. This is England's Chanel Cresswell plays Coleen while Game of Thrones actress Natalia Tena portrays Rebekah.
Coleen's husband Wayne, who supported her during the trial by turning up at court with her everyday, will be played by Welsh actor Dion Lloyd, who many will recognise from his role in the movie Pride.
Marci Nagyszokolyai will play Rebekah's husband, Jamie Vardy.
Welsh actor Michael Sheen, who also stars in the drama, is pictured wearing a wig and gown as he takes on the role of Rooney's barrister David Sherborne.
Rebekah's barrister Hugh Tomlinson QC is played by Simin Coury, known for The Professor and the Madman.
What are the WAGs saying about the drama?
Coleen is said to be pleased with the Channel 4 series as she wants people to 'know all the details' of the case.
A source told The Mirror: "Coleen is actually really happy about the Channel 4 drama. They're going off the transcripts and what actually happened in court so she is delighted everyone will see all the details of how it went down."
Rebekah has not spoken openly about the Channel 4 programme and has looked to move on from the trial defeat despite having to pay Coleen £1.5m in legal costs.
Expensive wardrobes
It will be interesting to see the similarities from the show and compare them to the coverage of the trial but from what we've noticed so far, producers have been doing their best to replicate every little detail - with sources saying that Channel 4 spared no expense to replicate the pair's expensive wardrobes.
In one snap, Natalia is seeing wearing a blue vintage £1,316 Chanel patterned maxi dress while posing with a phone in hand
Chanel can also be seen wearing a £32.99 Zara dress which Coleen wore with a medical boot during the trial.
Will there be a documentary?
Coleen is reportedly in talks to earn millions after signing a deal with Disney+.
The WAG is set to earn more money than her football manager husband Wayne after signing the multi-million pound deal in the summer. Coleen is said to be gearing up to film an exclusive tell-all documentary with the streaming giant.
