Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney ’s high-profile Wagatha Christie libel trial is set to be adapted into a TV drama by Channel 4.
The nation was hooked on the libel battle between the pair, which began when Coleen publicly claimed that Rebekah’s Instagram account was the source behind fake stories which were sold to the press after Coleen posted them on her private account.
Jamie Vardy's wife has continued to vehemently deny leaking the stories to the press and sued Coleen for libel after her fellow WAG exposed her on Instagram.
Coleen defended the claim on the basis her post was ‘substantially true’ after Rebekah's account was the only one to see her fake Instagram stories.
As the nation waits with bated breath to discover who won the libel case and court battle, which took place earlier this year, it has been revealed that a dramatic reconstruction of the case will be made into a two-part drama series on Channel 4.
The programme will also use verbatim court transcripts.
Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama will recreate courtroom scenes against analysis from the media.
While both Coleen and Rebekah, along with their husbands Wayne and Jamie, will be played by actors - it has yet to be revealed which famous faces will take on the lead roles.
The drama’s director, Oonagh Kearney, revealed: "This trial utterly captivated the public with its daily feed of entertaining exchanges and jaw-dropping reveals.
"But behind this, is a story of two women under constant public scrutiny, fighting for their reputations."
And Tom Popay, creative director at Chalkboard , added: "The court case… captivated the entire nation but very few people actually got to see what happened inside the courtroom.
"We’re excited to bring the trial to life in such a unique way and we’re hoping we can get to the bottom of how this case fascinated and amazed so many."
