Rise and Fall is the brand new Channel 4 reality show set to take over our screens, brought to you by the same team as The Traitors and predicted to have as big an impact on viewers.
The programme, which is hosted by Greg James, will see 16 ordinary people enter and be placed either as a member of the elite as a Ruler or as a powerless Grafter in a bid to take home £100,000.
Those without power in the game will have the chance to rise up through the ranks and win a cash prize. Rise and Fall is set to explore what it takes to get to the top, including "how to win power, how to keep hold of it and how to use it to influence others".
Radio 1 DJ James will oversee the action as the Grafters face a series of intense games and challenges to build up the cash prize which only only the Rulers can win. Only one ruler can win the total prize fund and players are tasked with deciding who will rise or fall from each team.
The contestants will enter Rise and Fall from all walks of life and must work together as a diverse group to reach the top. Some contestants include a trainee nurse, a care home manager, an account manager from one of Britain's oldest aristocratic families, a Young Conservatives member, and a delivery driver from West Lothian.
What is the Rise And Fall plot?
Rise and Fall will see 16 contestants enter the competition as equals but soon find themselves demoted to being a Grafter, or live luxuriously as a Ruler. The Rulers live in an opulent penthouse, while the Grafters must slum it in basic conditions in the basement.
Those in power will become responsible for making decisions for the Grafters, but could find themselves toppled out if their rules aren't popular.
And much like life, those in power will be responsible for making decisions that affect those who have none. The Rulers must encourage the Grafters to work harder, but if they push them too hard, they might find themselves toppled from power.
Anyone can rise to a position of power and anyone can fall, but only one Ruler can win the prize fund at the end of the game. Who rises and who falls will be decided by the other players.
Greg James said: “I’ve been waiting a long time for a show like this to come along that I can get stuck into and be the ringleader of. It’s an amazingly mad idea and the contestants are going to make some incredible TV. It’s very exciting to launch something brand new on Channel 4 and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. Let the power struggle begin…”
