Channel 4 will transport viewers to the frontline of medical trauma with the return of its gripping documentary series Rescue: Extreme Medics.
The show will return to our screens next week with exclusive access to the Scottish Trauma Network. Each episode follows super-skilled medics as they use helicopters and rapid-response cars to deliver advanced hospital treatment at the scenes of the most serious of accidents, in some of the most challenging landscapes in Scotland.
Whether on a remote island, a windswept mountainside, or a tourist-packed coastal road, viewers can see the crucial, minute-by-minute decisions made to save lives.
Medics wear cameras, which gives new unique access to the trauma teams and viewers will experience what medics do as they save lives on-scene.
The series also features in-depth interviews with the families and loved ones of the patients to reveal how the accidents occurred and provide an insight into the emotional impact of the trauma.
With incredible access to A&E departments in Glasgow and Aberdeen, viewers can witness the skill and hard work of the medics as they administer treatment that will hopefully not only save lives, but also ensure a better quality of life for the patients. In addition to covering the initial treatment, the cameras also follow the patients through their rehab as they look to get back on their feet and home to their families.
Produced by Glasgow-based factual indie Firecrest Films, this 360-degree insight into trauma is set against the backdrop of Scotland’s epic and wild landscape and captures dramatic and emotional stories in a way that has never been seen before.
