Channel 4 Love It or List It confusion as guests spotted in advert mid-show

Love It or List It viewers were baffled to see a family from the Channel 4 show appear on an advert.

Jabzz Mhlanga and wife Sarah enlisted the help of property experts Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp in an episode shown on TV this week. But fans questioned the authenticity of the episode when they spotted the couple in a advert for car company Lookers during the break.

In the property programme, the couple had to make the decision of whether to spend £45,000 renovating their four-bed Cheshire home or put it on the market instead. But fans were distracted as they saw actress Sarah, who once worked as a Meghan Markle lookalike, and her cinematographer partner Jabzz pop up in the advert.

Even host Kirstie was taken aback and tweeted: “Oops! Our lovely from this week’s #LIOLI in Cheshire, have recently appeared in an ad! And guess what....? It’s gone into OUR ad break, what are the chances?!!!”

But fans of the show thought it a bit odd. One said: "Nothing at all weird about watching Love it or List it #LIOLI and the featured couple turn up in an ad during the break.."

And Anna said: "Anyone else noticed the family featured in tonight's "Love It or List It" on Ch 4 (8pm),were also in an advert in one of the ad breaks for a company called Lookers."

After reading the comments, Kirstie insisted the appearance of the ad during the Love It or List It break was a complete coincidence. She answered disgruntled fans on Twitter as she said: "“It really isn’t [a scam]. We’re not that clever to be honest. They were a very real family with the same issues as so many families have with their homes.”

But one social media user, who said she used to work in TV advertising, appeared to set the record straight. She said: "I used to work for a media agency as a TV buyer. The C4 sales team will have worked with the creative agency (the ones who made the advert) and the media agency (the ones who buy the airtime) to place the ad in the show. Top class media buying. It’s not a fluke."

In the end Jabzz and Sarah decided to stay in their £550,000 home and instead spend £5,000 on clever storage solutions to improve their current property.
