Gogglebox star Lee Riley has shared an exciting update after sharing a video his co-star Jenny Newby had recorded. Earlier this year fans were left concerned when Jenny didn't appear alongside her best pal and on-screen partner at the Bafta TV awards.
The Channel 4 show picked up the Best Reality and Constructed Factual gong at the ceremony with Lee and fellow Goggleboxers Marcus Luther and Mica Ven representing the programme and heading up on stage to collect their latest silverware. But Jenny was notably missing from Lee's side.
Speaking to the Daily Star on the red carpet, Lee said at the time that Jenny "isn't very well" and needed an operation. He later explained that she had been on the waiting list for the op for two years and that it, unfortunately, fell during Baftas week.
However, the pair have given a tiny taste of their upcoming reunion ahead of the brand new series of Gogglebox due to start next month as Jenny gave a belated acceptance speech. She accepted the award from her garden and tightly gripped onto the theatrical mask trophy as she spoke to the camera to send a special message to Lee who she hailed for being there for her through the pandemic.
Lee posted the heart-warming video to their joint Instagram page, showing her stood on the decking of her famed static home. She began: "Hiya Lee, it's only me. I've got my BAFTA! "I know I couldn't be there with you on the night – I swapped my evening gown for my theatre gown, and my black stockings for surgical stockings, and my silver clutch bag for a catheter bag.
"But all in all, I never got to say thank you to you, you know, for the support you gave me through the pandemic when we was filming," Jenny said before turning attentions to her moving in to his caravan in Hull with him so they could work on the show together.
"You know, and the things that you did for me like giving me that 9ft by 5ft bedroom – wall to wall... walls, and enough room under the bed for my Pot Noodle and a packet of fags," she said. "And the one shelf you gave me in the kitchen, and I needed to stand on a step to get to it!"
She then ended her message: "But I just want to say all in all Lee, thank you very much for being my bezzie mate, and I'm hoping to see you soon. Bye bye." Captioning the clip, Lee showed his appreciation before sharing a hint at when the pair will be back on the sofa together.
"This is why I love this woman," he penned. "Thank you for your kind words Jenny [crying laughing emojis]. See you next week," he added alongside a filming camera and TV emoji. And fans were thrilled with the update.

The popular Gogglebox duo have spent time together during their stint away from the cameras as Jenny went to visit Lee and his partner Steve over in Cyprus where they spent their entire summer. But fans will also get to see them soon as the new series of Gogglebox is set to start on Friday, September 9 on Channel 4.
