Channel 4 Gogglebox's Jenny stuns fans with new look before making King Charles gaffe

Fans weren't surprise to see Jenny Newby showing her emotional side on Gogglebox once again as the cast reacted to new of the Queen's death. The hit Channel 4 show was back on screens on Friday night (September 16) for the second time since Queen Elizabeth II's death was announced.

The latest episode started without it's usual theme tune as narrator Craig Cash said: "This week we watched the moment BBC News told the nation that Her Majesty the Queen had died." As he spoke, silence rung out as the exterior of the cast members' homes were shown.

Jenny was soon seen dabbing her eyes as she sniffled through tears with best pal Lee Riley sat beside her. While he's usually known for rolling his eyes at his co-star's emotional outbursts, he too was enthralled by what was on screen and later appeared tearful when Jenny battled through tears as she joined in a rendition of 'God Save the King', the first time it was sung during an official ceremony.

While the episode got off to an emotional start, Gogglebox viewers couldn't help but comment on social media about Jenny's new appearance. She showed off a new shorter haircut with her silvery grey tones also appeared lighter.

@martini7878 tweeted: "Jenny looks amazing tonight!!! And Kudos to Lee for not commenting on the singing and crying. #Gogglebox." @caz_jackson wrote: "How fabulous does Jenny look #GoggleBox @leegogglebox." @Colleenthompson13 said: "Love your hair Jenny, you look 10 years younger."

.@maher_gomez shared: "Love Jenny’s new haircut!! Glam, stylish. Really looks fab #Gogglebox." @nawogcm posted: "Jenny looks beautiful tonight #Gogglebox." But @jessicabiggx asked: "Why does Jenny look so different? #Gogglebox."

And the tears soon subsided when Jenny made a bit of gaffe when talking about the new King. She and Lee were discussing Charles' new role as monarch following the death of his beloved mother, reflecting on his first speech as King just a day after the Queen's death was announced.

Jenny did later have a giggle (Channel 4)

Jenny warned: "Charles has to behave himself, because some of the things... he's opinionated," to which Lee chimed in: "He can't be outspoken now." But Jenny made a bit of a blunder when she added: "He can't speak anymore. I know like he is a naturist."

She was likely referring to Charles' long-lasting love for the environment and campaigns for climate change, which he championed during his time as prince. While a naturist is someone who famously goes nude in private and in public, whilst a naturalist is somebody with a passion for the natural world and the environment.

Jenny did seem to realise her mistake rather quickly as she went on to say: "Oh no... is that. I don't think he's a naturist," before bursting out laughing at her error. And Gogglebox viewers found it just as hilarious.

@Wandoful tweeted: "And just like that…Jenny claims King Charles is a naturist and a normal service resumes [crying laughing emoji] #Gogglebox." @KyleSew2112 commented: "Oh my god I'm so behind, I've just cackled at Jenny calling Charles a naturist #gogglebox." @dyleds posted: "Jenny calling King Charles a naturist on #Gogglebox has literally been the highlight of my week lmao."

Earlier this week Jenny had made the trip to London from Hull to pay her respects to the Queen as she lied in state at Westminster Hall. Posting a photo on her and Lee's joint Instagram account of her holding the BAFTA award the show won earlier this year, Jenny wrote: "Finally I get to hold the BAFTA while in London to show my respect to her majesty the Queen."
