Channel 4's Gogglebox scooped Best Reality and Constructed Factual at the TV BAFTA awards but as the sofa critics went on stage to collect their award fans noticed that Jenny Newby was missing. Co-star Lee Riley has now revealed just why the loved contributor was missing from the line-up.
Speaking to Daily Star on the red carpet, Lee revealed that his best friend "isn't very well" and needed to head into hospital for an operation.
The cast members usually share their views for the hit show from Lee's caravan in Sand le Mere on the East Yorkshire coast. Lee explained: "She is not very well, she is having an operation, a mini one, but she is recovering well though.

"She was invited but the appointment was in BAFTA week. You can't turn down an NHS operation down can you? But she is doing well."
Fans had already expressed concern after the duo were missing from the latest episode. Taking to social media, fans soon alerted each other to their absence. "Tonight's #Gogglebox not the same without Lee and Jenny", wrote one person on Twitter. To which the reply came: "Oh god yeah, where are they?! I knew someone was missing!"
Another said: "I do love this show, but it's just not the same without Lee and Jenny." Another added: "Missing my favourites jenny and lee."
Their absence wasn't explained to viewers, but it seems their break may be down to Jenny's health woes, but they look certain to be back on screens soon.
