A Place in the Sun host Ben Hillman suffered an awkward moment just minutes into the property search during Tuesday's episode on Channel 4.
John and Liz, who met in Gran Canaria having both previously holidayed there separately for a number of years, were looking to buy their first home together on the island. With a budget of £140,000 they were searching for a holiday home that could one day become their forever home in the town of Puerto Rico.
They wanted somewhere close to the beach and local amenities with Liz saying she "wouldn't want to feel isolated". They were also hoping to have "lovely views".

But the pair, who own a chip shop in Essex, immediately "wrote off" a one-bedroom apartment in Playa del Cura. The property had a communal pool and terraces, and was on the market for just over £136,000.
But John and Liz were not impressed, even admitting it was smaller than the caravan they were currently living in. John said it was "claustrophobic" and felt "more like a holiday let, somewhere you would stay for a week". Liz said it was "very small and enclosed".
When Ben asked if they would like to see any more of the home, the couple declined. Liz said: "I'd rather be back [from the seafront] and have a bigger property".
Viewers at home also took issue with the apartment. Taking to Twitter, Denise Sutcliffe said: "Nice if you want to live in a box", while Sarah B said: "Not about that vomit green kitchen". Peter said: "I think there is a big difference between a permanent home and a holiday home".
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4 and All 4
