Indian Space Research Organisation chairman S Somanath has said they will attempt a soft landing on the Moon’s south pole. “The launch day is July 13, it can go up to 19th.”
3/10 - Follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2
Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface.
4/10 - Almost all tests complete
Last week, Isro had announced that the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft was fully built and assembled with the faring, and is waiting for integration with the rocket.
5/10 - GSLV Mk-III rocket
Chandrayaan-3 will be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, using the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark-III (GSLV Mk-III) rocket.
6/10 - Dark side of the Moon
India wants to look at the Moon’s surface, particularly in regions that haven’t seen sunlight in a few billion years. These darker regions of the lunar surface may contain ice and rich mineral deposits.
