Chance to own a dream home on one of Wales’ most exclusive and expensive streets

If you could live on any street in one of Wales' most popular towns and cities, which would it be? If money were no object, where would you send the removal vans and unpack your slippers? It could be that an exclusive address will tempt you the most.

The size and style of house, the luxury features, the location in a posh suburb, a semi-rural position or an astounding sea view are all property characteristics that have contributed to a select handful of Wales' top roads regularly appearing in lists of Wales' most expensive roads to live on.

From Benar Headland near Abersoch to the seafront at Tenby, from Westbourne Road and Marine Parade in Penarth to Llys Helyg Drive on the Great Orme, Llandudno - all these streets, and a handful more across Wales, have kudos attached to their address and it pushes their asking price skywards on the rare occasion one of their luxury homes become available.

And in and around Cardiff there are a few streets that join this small group of prestigious addresses, including Llandennis Road, Cyncoed Road, and any of the streets that flank Roath Park. But arguably the address that trumps them all in the capital is Druidstone Road.

The leafy street has an entrance pretty much hidden at the end of a residential road in the suburb of Old St Mellon's. Druidstone Road starts as one side of a fork in the road shared with its neighbour Began Road, another posh place to buy a property, but outshined by its neighbour.

Druidstone Road has always been seen by the residents of Cardiff who know about its existence as a very exclusive, leafy lane to call home. And once you swipe your steering wheel right at the fork you'll enter a world of millionaire homes, large gardens, and rural views.

Located on the eastern side of the capital, the road begins with huge million pound mansions before it morphs to a lane that then meanders from Old St Mellon's out into the rolling countryside on the way to Rudry and Machen.

In 2015 the road was named the most expensive road to live on in Wales, and regularly makes an appearance in the annual top 10. Find out more about Cardiff's 'millionaire's row' road here.

Now, a handsome house that offers space as well as the posh address is on the market with a guide price of £1,350,000, offering the chance for someone with a hefty buying budget to join the elite who call this expensive road their home.

Called Ridges, as you might expect from a home in this price bracket, the space inside this house is abundant and can offer a choice of three reception rooms on the ground floor, plus a kitchen, breakfast and open-plan living room, and a laundry room bigger than some home's whole kitchen.

Of course, the hallway is a fancy welcome to the home, with plush carpet that demands your toes sink into it, as this immaculate home is definitely a shoes-off house. The period staircase adds the character and history, the chandelier, mirror and sleek furniture add the glamour.

The family room at the far end of the house boasts a lovely, big bay window which includes a central door out onto the garden terrace and it certainly is a room that can welcome everyone with comfort, space and light.

There's also a den on this side of the house that looks out over the front garden and lane, for some more separate time away from the busy family spaces to watch the movie or the match away from distractions.

A formal dining room at the front of the house joins the choices of reception rooms, but the heart of the home is the super sociable open-plan kitchen that flows into a breakfast dining area which then flows into a comfortable lounge area - the perfect place to crash after stuffing your face with yummy food at the adjacent dining table created on a huge range cooker.

This trio of terrific spaces can boast light, space and tasteful interior design, as well as bespoke carpentry in the lounge and high-end units in the kitchen. There are three big windows looking out over the garden and two separate glass doors getting you out there.

Obviously this space has been created by combining three former smaller rooms, possibly even two rooms either side of a central corridor or utility space out to the garden, and it is all the better for it - a combined area that is warm and welcoming, and surely the hub of this family home.

There's a spacious cloakroom on the ground floor too, next to the laundry room, and it oozes style in a mono decor scheme that is very classy.

Upstairs six double bedrooms are waiting to puzzle you with the choice of which of these pretty, peaceful spaces you could bag as your bedroom. But, like Goldilocks, why not try out each until you find the one that's perfect for you?

Arguably the room that could initially be seen as the principal bedroom has its own little vestibule room before you enter, making it feel a little grander than the rest, especially when you add in a built-in wardrobe and an ensuite.

But further down the landing is another fabulous space, and this bedroom has a duo of views over the garden and a stunning statement bath in the ensuite, as well as a continuation of the soft greys and creams interior design dressed with tactile fabrics and gentle patterns found in all the bedrooms, so this is probably the principal bedroom.

The four remaining bedrooms are all doubles and are light, spacious and super versatile if you wanted and needed a home office, media room, study or playroom - any one of them could easily sacrifice its slumber space for something else. There's also a family bathroom on this floor that continues the neutral decor and is tiled throughout.

Outside, behind the electric front gate, is ample parking for all the family plus multiple guests, and to the rear the south-facing garden, as well as being bathed in sunshine all day, can offer a peaceful slice of prime Cardiff real estate for life.

Ridges is on the market with a guide price of £1.35m with estate agents Jeffrey Ross, contact their Pontcanna branch on 029 2049 9680 to find out more.
