A WEATHER warning has been issued for the whole of Scotland as the Met Office urges people to be aware of the chance of power cuts and even “danger to life”.
The yellow warning for wind was issued on Monday and covers Thursday, December 21 in its entirety.
The warning also covers the entirety of Scotland and Northern Ireland, and well as north Wales and most of northern England.

The Met Office said travel disruption could be expected on a day when Christmas traffic is expected to be high.
The agency further warned that amid the poor weather:
- There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected
- There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs
- There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
- There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
- There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris
- There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close
Gusts of 50-60mph are expected across the area covered by the yellow warning.
Stronger gusts of 70-80mph are expected in coastal areas and “to the east of high ground”, the Met Office said.
Over the weekend, a stronger amber weather warning was issued for parts of western Scotland, including Fort William and Ullapool.
