A yellow thunderstorm warning is in place for much of Greater Manchester this afternoon (June 25).
It comes into force from 1pm on Sunday, and is in place until 9pm tonight. The warning covers much of the eastern half of the city-region.
According to the Met Office, the warning covers Manchester, Tameside, Stockport, Bury, Rochdale, and Oldham. It also covers parts of Salford, Wigan, Trafford, and Bolton.

“Thunderstorms developing across northern England and Scotland may cause disruption and localised flooding on Sunday afternoon and evening,” the warning said.
Experts added: “There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings and temporary outdoor structures from floodwater, lightning strikes, large hail or strong winds.
“There is a small chance that some communities become temporarily cut off by flooded roads. Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
“Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.”
