Championship promotion odds for next season as Nottingham Forest try to end 23-year wait

It will be 23 years next spring since Nottingham Forest last played in the top flight of English football - so it's about time they ended their exile.

The bookies have put together early odds to look at their chances but, as you would expect, the favourites to win the title are relegated trio Fulham, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United.

Forest come in the third set of clubs, behind play-off losers Bournemouth and Swansea, level with Cardiff, Middlesbrough and Stoke.

Peterborough and Blackpool are the longest odds at 66/1, swiftly followed by Derby County.

At this stage before the season just finished, the bookies tipped Watford, Brentford and Norwich City as the three favourites to be champions. All three went up.

Wycombe Wanderers, Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday were the three longest odds. All three went down.

Forest have been in the Championship since 2008, finishing as high as third in 2010 and as low as 21st in 2017. They finished 17th in 2020/21 as Chris Hughton replaced Sabri Lamouchi.
