Championship club 'monitoring' top Rangers youth prospect

Rangers youngster Archie Stevens is being 'monitored' by an English Championship club, according to a report.

The England Under-18 international has one senior appearance to his name at Ibrox, but is regarded as one of the club's top young talents.

Leeds Live claims Leeds United are watching the winger closely with a view to signing him.

The 18-year-old has now entered the final year of his current contract at the Scottish Premiership club.

Philippe Clement and his staff at Ibrox know they will need to try convince him to sign a new deal, or risk losing him on a free next year.

Leeds doesn't see Stevens as a direct first-team replacement for either Crysencio Summerville or Everton-bound Jack Harrison, but they believe they can offer him the next best step in his development.

The Yorkshire side aren't the only English side to be tracking Stevens. Premier League outsides West Ham, Nottingham Forst and Wolves have also been linked.

Stevens joined Rangers in the summer of 2022 after leaving AFC Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, a senior figure at Rangers lost their job over the Ibrox construction delays which will see the club forced to play home matches at an alternative venue at the start of next season.

The club confirmed on Thursday that a delay in materials shipment from Asia will mean work on the Copland Stand won't be finished in time for the new season.

Therefore, the club will now seek an alternative venue to host home matches until the work is completed - which could be in September.

It's understood contingency plans have been worked on in recent weeks but no finalised plans have been made and no deal for a venue agreed.

The nightmare situation will see Rangers forced to pay a fee for an alternative venue.

And the debacle has resulted in one senior figure at the club losing their job over the situation.
