Champions League table: League phase latest standings for 2024-25 season as Liverpool go top again

The Champions League is hotting up after the fifth round of fixtures in the league phase were played.

Liverpool moved back to the top of the table with a statement win over Real Madrid, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo scoring as Arne Slot’s side made it five wins from five.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa played out a goalless draw with Juventus, having been denied a last-gasp winner in controversial fashion, while Celtic earned a point against Club Brugge.

Arsenal and Manchester City were both in action on Tuesday night as they looked to make up the ground following respective defeats last time out.

The Gunners, who lost to Inter Milan before the international break, travelled to Sporting CP and dominated with a statement 5-1 victory.

City – thrashed by the Portuguese giants earlier this month - hosted Feyenoord, throwing away a 3-0 lead late to continue their recent crisis.

There are heavyweight ties everywhere you look this week. Bayern Munich beat Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, while a resurgent Barcelona saw off high-flying Brest.
