Champions League final: Liverpool and Real Madrid clash to be shown free by BT Sport

All three UEFA finals including the Champions League showdown between Liverpool and Real Madrid will be available to watch for free, BT Sport have confirmed.

The broadcaster will stream the club game’s biggest fixture on its website and on YouTube channels on May 28 having unlocked the showpiece in previous seasons.

Last year’s final, in which Chelsea defeated Manchester City, drew an audience of 8.7million viewers, while the 2019 game between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur three years ago had 11.3million. By comparison the station often fails to break an audience of 1m for Premier League fixtures.

Next Wednesday’s Europa League final between Rangers and Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville and the inaugural Conference League decider on May 25, which sees Jose Mourinho ’s Roma face Feyenoord, will also be shown.

Station chief Jamie Hindhaugh said: “It has been another hugely entertaining season of football across all three UEFA club competitions, highlighted by British clubs making two of the finals once again. We’re delighted to round these European campaigns off by making the live action from all three finals available for anyone to watch for free on the BT Sport website, app or YouTube channel.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that he expects Fabinho to be fit for the Real game after straining a hamstring in the nervy midweek Premier League win away to Aston Villa.

The Brazil midfielder will miss tomorrow afternoon’s FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley but is expected to have recovered in time for the meeting at Stade de France. “He will definitely be back for the Champions League final," Klopp said, before drumming up the importance of winning a second domestic trophy of the campaign following the Carabao Cup success in February.

“When you go for three or four trophies, it's clear you get it or you don't,” he added. “It's a busy season, but it will never happen that the FA Cup is just a normal game. It's a special game and, for some, the biggest in their career. We want to enjoy it and deliver for our people.”
