Champions League draw complete as Celtic learn new league phase opponents

Celtic have learned who they will face in the Champions League this season.

The Hoops automatically qualified for the new league phase after winning the Scottish Premiership title last time out. That means they will expect to meet a host of big-guns.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are set to go-head-to-head with German giants Borussia Dortmund and Europa League holders Atalanta among others.

Rodgers will be relieved his team have avoided holders Real Madrid and recent winners Manchester City.

The fresh competition structure - for the first time since 1992 - will see a change from the usual eight groups of four teams where they would usually play three home and away fixtures.

Now it's just one big table including 36 clubs and each one will take on eight different sides, ensuring four home games and four away.

Celtic were drawn two teams from each of the four pots.
