A former champion figure skater is set to stand trial over claims she defrauded the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane out of more than half a million pounds.
Jubilee Mandl-Daroczy, 40, is accused of siphoning off funds into her own bank account while working as director of business development at the luxury hotel.
The alleged fraud took place between January 1, 2022, and February 28 this year, with Mandl-Daroczy accused of stealing a total of £549,292.
Before entering the hotel business, Vienna-born Mandl-Daroczy was an internationally-renowned ice dancer with a string of medals in her collection.
She was reportedly a member of the Austrian Olympic figure skating team, and won gold medals at the Austrian Figure Skating Championships in 1998 and 1999.
She was also a five-time European Criterium Champion in the 1990s.
Mandl-Daroczy appeared at Harrow crown court, sitting in Hendon, on Tuesday via videolink from HMP Bronzefield, where she is being held while facing criminal charges.
She pleaded not guilty to allegations of fraud and money laundering.
It is said she “abused her position as director of business development” against the “financial interests of the Hilton Hotel Group”. She also faces claims she “concealed or transferred” money allegedly stolen from the hotel.
Mandl-Daroczy, who lives in White City, west London, was appointed to the post at the Hilton in Park Lane in 2017.
Upon her appointment, she said: “I am delighted to have been appointed Director of Business Development at London Hilton on Park Lane, as it is the flagship property in the EMEA and the first Hilton hotel to open in Europe.
“I’m looking forward to all the exciting projects we have coming up in 2017 throughout all areas of the business.”
Judge Karim Ezzat remanded Mandl-Daroczy back into custody until the start of her trial, which is due to commence on October 21.
